In current GT3 trim, the Mosler MT900 races competitively
with over 200 kg of ballast required by the sanctioning
body, with the engine highly restricted as well. On the
other hand, other marques are allowed to race hundreds of kg
below their ‘street’ weights and with more power than their
‘street’ output to make them competitive.
This means that as the years go by and newer cars become
faster, the current MT900’s will be able to keep pace far
into the foreseeable future simply by removing ballast and
opening the restrictors.
Note that the MT900 has remained competitive for over 7
years- a feat unmatched by any other road car- while cars
such as the Porsche GT2 and Ferrari 360 have not been able
to keep up and are no longer raced.
