Q. Can I drive a Mosler round town or is it strictly for the open
road and sunny days?
A. You can drive it around town and it is fully weatherproof with
a/c, demisters, and all regular road car functionality.
Q. Is it complicated and expensive to service?
A. Neither – the engine in particular is very low-stressed with long
maintenance-free mileage periods, the chassis is hugely strong and
the suspension robust and quite straightforward in design and
execution. With Mosler Europe’s technical team available at the end
of a phone line or e-mail to back-up the owner’s manual supplied
(hard copy and CD), any competent car servicing establishment should
find little problem working on the Mosler.
Q What happens if significant damage should be incurred due to an
accident?
A. The car can be collected or brought back to the Mosler Europe
factory for the necessary work to be undertaken. Contrary to some
belief, carbon-composite bodywork and chassis are both quite capable
of being repaired, depending on the degree of damage of course, and
are anyway extremely good at resisting impacts, providing great
primary safety.
Q. What pedigree does the Mosler have?
A. Refer to the Mosler MT900 Racing History web page on this site
(click here). You will see the so far short but already impressive
competition history of the Mosler, including demanding 24-hour race
victories against Ferrari and Porsche among others, and the instant
success of the new GT3 Mosler from which the road-going SGT is
evolved.
Q. Can I use the Mosler for track days or even racing?
A. Of course, but always recognise its (very high) limits and drive
it within these. You could also race in certain club or national
events, with the addition of some additional safety features (the
car already has a security roll cage fitted together with racing
seats and harness) and, if permitted in the category concerned,
racing tyres. However, you will need to have gained an MSA licence
and medical certificate before taking part in any competition
events.
Q. Can I get specialist driving instruction to extract the best from
the Mosler?
A. Yes, and more besides.
Q. Is there a warranty?
A. 2 years/12,000 miles (20,000 km) – excluding track day and race
use.
Q. Can I visit the factory to see the cars (my car!) in build?
A. You are positively encouraged to do so – and to take in the race
car facility as well
Buying a Mosler sports/GT coupé is akin to the difference between an
off-the-peg suit and a bespoke one. We like the process of
evaluation to be a pleasurable exercise in itself, the waiting
period one of anticipation rather than frustration, and the thrill
of possession to exceed expectation and deliver unique driving
excitement and a refreshing sense of individuality in an
increasingly uniform world. |
